7" Sitting Fat Buddha on Stand

Often referred to as the "Happy Buddha" or the "Laughing Buddha", actually a statue of Hotei, in Japanese, or Budai, translated from Chinese. A folk deity in the far east, traditionally said to have been a Zen monk, whose happy countenance brought joy and wealth to all people and places he visited during his preternaturally long life. Folk traditions hold that rubbing the belly of a happy Buddha statue is good luck, much like our tradition of knocking on wood.
