Stunning French red lacquer secretary desk with drop- down desktop. Front panel, sides and drawer faces are hand painted with elegant raised "chinois" figures and scenery in traditional "landscape" design. Finished in a rich, clear lacquer. Inside, a practical configuration of vertical and horizontal slots as well as small drawers on right and left for pens and paper clips. Clever and sturdy design with extending desktop supports. The top, back, desktop and drawer interiors are finished in red lacquer. Brass handles are clear lacquered to resist tarnish.
